We’re eager to take part in the nation-wide event, Culture Days! We invite the public to come on out and help us kick-start a palmas (flamenco clapping) club.

During this interactive and instructional session, attendees will learn how to clap along to different flamenco rhythms. Clapping will be performed alongside music accompaniment by the workshop leaders. Local flamenco duo, Claudia and Julian will teach the public about the different rhythmic possibilities in flamenco music and dance, such as 4/4 meter, 6/8, and additive meter resulting in 12/8. Julian will accompany on flamenco guitar, with Claudia on vocals and with footwork. Warm-up those voices, too, and we can teach you when and where to yell “¡Olé!” Come on out and experience the pulsing rhythms and dynamic beat of flamenco.
Time: September 30th, 5:30pm – 7pm.
